Dr. Mitze Burnett is a licensed marriage and family therapist (CA# 50064), board- certified behavior analyst, and registered psychological associate (PSB94027395), practicing under Dr. Jaseon Outlaw (PSY23676). She holds a Bachelor of Arts in Social Work, Master of Arts in Counseling Psychology, and Doctor of Psychology degree. Dr. Burnett has a passion for helping others become the best version of themselves which began over 20 years ago while working at a family center supporting individuals and families that had experienced some form of trauma. She has served as the director at a large nationwide human services agency, sat on a number of advisory boards, and founded a mental and behavioral health services company.
Dr. Burnett has provided person-centered and strengths-based therapy services to individuals with a broad array of presenting concerns. She has a strong desire for partnering with clients to process their personal life circumstances, while providing unconditional positive regard and respect. It brings her tremendous joy to be a part of her client’s journey and she feels it a true honor to get to support her clients in achieving their personal goals.
Dr. Burnett believes in treating the client as a “whole person” and focuses on her clients’ strengths and abilities. Dr. Burnett integrates cognitive behavioral therapy, emotion- focused therapy, strengths-based therapy, trauma focused-CBT, internal family systems, and dialectical behavioral therapy (DBT) into her practice. She believes that each person she meets with has within him/herself vast resources for self-understanding to adjust his/her self-concept, attitudes and behavior(s). These resources can be accessed when a definable climate of therapeutic rapport is developed. Dr. Burnett has an interest in working with all individuals with varying cultural backgrounds, ethnicities, religious faiths (Christian/agnostic/atheist/etc.), and sexual orientations.
